Code of Conduct

All of our member-lawyers subscribe to the CFLLN Code of Conduct regarding fees charged and competence in the delivery of legal services provided. The fees that our members charge must be fair and discussed fully and in advance. This means you can make a decision about whether to retain our member-lawyer without pressure or obligation and with a full understanding of what is required of you. There are no surprises – you decide what’s best for you.

Should you decide to retain our member-lawyer to represent you, then all legal services will be performed with competence and at a reasonable and fair cost to you. If at anytime you are dissatisfied with the services provided to you in your case by your member-lawyer or should you believe that the fees charged are not fair, then you have the right to object by requesting a review by our Board of Administrators who will undertake a prompt and careful review of the services and charges in your case. If the Board finds those services did not meet a reasonable standard of competence or that they were provided for an excessive fee, then an appropriate fee reduction will be demanded in your favour. Please review the terms of our review procedure set out under the heading Review Procedure for details. All of our member-lawyers agree to abide by the decision of our Board of Administrators under this review procedure.
